I use Tweetdeck to manage my Twitter accounts and the lists that I have created and find this particularly useful when taking part in a Twitter chat. Tweetdeck can be customised to show a variety of different columns and also has a search column. When joining Tweetchats this column can be used to search for the chat hashtag for example #CYPUoL and then you can see all tweets containing that hashtag and follow the chat. (TIP: If I know the chat is going to be busy or I am leading it I often pre write tweets and have them prepared on my iPad or phone so that I can use Tweetdeck just to compose new tweets and retweeting).
With Tweetdeck you can have several Twitter accounts linked to it and you can schedule Tweets from any of those accounts. This is really helpful and I use this to schedule Tweets from my own account and the @UoLchildnursing account. You just make sure the account you want to tweet from has a tick in it. What you can't do with Tweetdeck is schedule retweets which is what I wanted to be able to do. Today I found an excellent blog by TechRepublic that explained how you could do exactly that using Tweetdeck and Buffer. Buffer is available as both a website and an app for android or IOS and it lets you schedule retweets. You can pick custom times for your tweets to be sent and also choose to send tweets immediately or change the order they will be sent. You can also choose to link other social media accounts (Facebook, linkedin, instagram, google) and schedule posts from these as well. So what have I learnt?
I've enjoyed learning how this works and the limitations that it has. I've learnt something new and useful and that always makes me smile.
