to show each slide for a longer period so that they will be easier to find in the recording. This will mean people can press pause when they reach that slide and look at all of the information on them. I did this during the second breakout session for the first set of slides and started the recording again after the feedback and did the same with the second set of slides. This is important as the recording isn't like a PowerPoint presentation where you have all of the slides and it doesn't matter if you don't use them in the session; the recording only includes what you used within that session.
The work presented on the slides from the breakout sessions was excellent. It was clear that there had been lots of discussion and groups choose how to present that discussion on their slides. These are good resources to draw on and I feel that there is greater depth to this discussion and feedback than in previous face-to-face sessions. I did forget to restart the recording when we discussed the first set of group feedback, I pause the recording during the group work. To work around this whilst the students entered their second breakout session I went back and discussed their comments in chat and reviewed their slides. This isn't perfect but meant we didn't lose too much feedback. I apologized to the students and explained how I'd managed the problem. Feedback from the group was more in depth this week and I'm going to discuss that in another post. In general the feeling is that the technology is beginning to take a back seat as we all get more comfortable with it and we are now more able to focus on the discussion. I am loving the engagement from the group, their willingness to try new things and their understanding when things don't work perfectly. They have been an amazing group to work with. So what have I learnt? (Pleased with)
So what have I learnt? (needs work)
We are still on our journey of discovery as next week the groups produce a blog post based on their group work. I've posted instructions and activities in their group rooms and we'll see how it goes. Another step taken.
